Guru Purnima Special It’s Important To Have The Eyes That Seek Out A Teacher

A guru means someone who shows the right path; the one who teaches something. Going by this, the Universe is full of teachers. Every human being, every object, every situation is constantly teaching something or the other. And when so many teachers are easily available to teach us, then why isn’t every person on this earth attaining the peak of success? Because, while there may be no dearth of teachers in this world, there surely are not enough students. Hence, be sure that till a human being doesn’t awaken the inner eye that can seek out the teachers around him, his life cannot be filled with happiness and prosperity.
But what is it that you do? Even amongst the greatest teachers like Christ, Buddha or Krishna you pick only one and start considering him your teacher. Now if someone is so miserly in the matter of choosing a teacher, how and when can he learn?
Anyway, leave it; this is about the greatest of personalities. But if there are eyes that are willing to learn, and if there is an ability to seek out a teacher then even a small child can teach you many things. When he starts learning how to walk he falls quite often, and frequently even hurts himself; but neither does he fear nor does he give up his excitement, and one fine day he finally learns how to walk. Similarly, we too shouldn’t fear failure, and neither should we let go of our enthusiasm. And none other than children can teach us this. So, only the one who is capable of considering even children as his teachers can move ahead in life.
Similarly, someday peek into the lives of the labourers who toil for their livelihood. Despite working hard through the day, most of them are able to spend quality time with their family. And despite all the troubles and difficulties of life, next morning they arrive at work refreshed. And let’s take a look at ourselves, despite having all the comforts at our disposal, we roam around tired. We become irritable. That’s what I am talking about; if there were eyes which could see the labourers as their teachers and learn from them, then life would have surely been better.
So, today on the occasion of Guru Purnima I only wish to say that never be miserly when choosing your teachers. Remember this, the more the number of teachers in a person’s life the happier and more successful he is.
