In life, you could earn as many
degrees as possible, or become proficient in various tasks or make as much money
as possible, but all these degrees and achievements become useless if you do
not know the art of self-management.
Suppose that you are a Master of
Economics, you are an expert at policy-making, and you have been made the
Governor of the Reserve Bank as well… and today is your first meeting to decide
the policy. You have no dearth of talent, you are even determined to prove your
capability of making the best policy, but you had a fight at home with your
wife just as you were about to leave for work. And so, during the entire
meeting, your mind was occupied by all the bitter words your wife had said and
so you could not do anything in the meeting. So much so, that your colleagues even
felt that you were inappropriately hired.
Just think, this may be happening
with you on numerous occasions. All your expertise maybe proving useless at the time when someone lands a blow on your
‘self’. So, understand that all external expertise can be productive only if
you know how to manage yourself from within. …And only good psychology can
teach you how to manage yourself. So maintain a habit of reading good
psychology and move ahead in life.
