Kabir: a name that dwells in the hearts of the people
living in India and around it. Perhaps, there are no other spoken words that
have been heard as much as his Dohas (couplets)in the entire world. His
innocence is reflected in every single word of his. But do you know about his
life? He was a weaver; he crafted bed covers. There was scarcity of food in his
house, but despite this, the innocent Kabir could not do business properly. He
would make the bed covers but while selling them he was unable to ask for
money. His wife and son Kamaal, both would even fight with him, they would also
tell him about the condition of their household, and understanding all this
Kabir too would promise to focus on his business; but at the last minute,
everything would fall apart. When asked he would simply say who should I ask
money from? Everything is Him. This bed cover is also His form, and so is this
thread that is being used to weave these bed covers, and the one to whom it is
sold to also seems to be His personification, now...weaving Him…from Him and
giving it to Him – in this process how can there be any kind of transaction?
And Kabir never merely said this; he literally would
feel the same from the bottom of his heart. Imagine, this is what innocence is!
Just ponder upon this, how joyful would someone so innocent be? On the other
hand, we are trying to derive joy through smartness, as a result of which, we
are not deriving happiness but instead, the level of frustration keeps
increasing every day. I have conveyed Kabir’s spirit and the reason behind it
to you. ...Now, it is up to you to decide whether you
wish to show smartness or be innocent!
