On the Occasion of Janamashtmi Bhagvad Gita's Pain

Bhagavad Gita -Krishna, what do you consider to be the most splendid work of your life?
Krishna - You very well know it, still you are acting coy?
...Certainly, the words of your existence flowing out of my mouth.
Bhagavad Gita - Then Sire, please tell me, when the story of your butter-stealing, your Ras-leela, your birth, killing Kansa, escaping the battle, and the grandeur of your Dwarka are so well-discussed....then despite the existence of more than 1 billion Hindus in the world, why do I find myself rarely discussed or talked about?
At the most, they recite a few shlokas in Sanskrit, a language they have very little knowledge of.
Often, seeing this, my heart cries out in agony!
Krishna -But why do you grieve over it? Whether someone realizes your value or not, for me, you are the closest to my heart. Then again, you have also not been completely rejected by the people.
You should be satisfied that just because I used the word ‘Gamble’ in the Bhagavad Gita, atleast they play cards in your rememberance.
Although it is inappropriate,please be satisfied with it.

भगवद्गीता - कृष्ण! आप अपने जीवन का सबसे हसीन कार्य किसे मानते हैं?
कृष्ण - तुम जानती हो, फिर भी लाड़ रही हो।
...निश्चित ही मेरे मुख से तुम्हारा बह निकलना।
भगवद्गीता - तो फिर यह बताओ महाराज कि आपके माखन चुराने की
आपकी रासलीलाओं की, आपके जन्म की, आपके कंस-वध की
आपके रण छोड़ने की, आपकी द्वारका के भव्यता की तो इतनी चर्चा है
...परंतु विश्व में 100 करोड़ के करीब हिंदू होने के बाद भी
मेरी कोई खास चर्चा नहीं।
बहुत होता है तो संस्कृत में दो-चार श्लोक गुनगुना लेते हैं
जिस भाषा की उनको जानकारी नहीं।
अक्सर यह सब देखकर मेरा दिल रो-रो पड़ता है।
कृष्ण - तो तू क्यों उदास होती है।
कोई तेरा सिक्का माने या नहीं, मेरे तो सबसे अजीज तू ही है।
और फिर तुझे पूरी तरह से तो लोगों ने नकारा भी नहीं है।
मेरे मुख से गीता समझाते वक्त ‘जुआ’ शब्द क्या निकला
तुझे याद करने के बहाने सब जुआ तो खेल ही लेते हैं
गलत ही सही, पर तू उसी से संतोष मान।
रहा सवाल लोगों का तो उस बाबत तू इतना तय जान कि
तुझे समझे बगैर किसी का उद्धार नहीं।
...और तू ही देख ले! तुझे हजारों में कोई एक समझता है
और वही एक सुखी व सफल है।

Today on the occasion of Janmashtami, I have just one thing to say, ‘Leave me and grab hold of the Bhagavad Gita.’
Your life will change for the better.
Why am I being harrowed on every trivial matter?
Have I made a mistake or committed a crime by being born in India?
The man who in his life span of 108 years, did not get tied down to any place, thing or person even for a moment; on what basis have you people confined him to temples built in every home, nook and cranny?
If you can’t be free, at least set me free!
I, who always enjoyed the freedom of an open sky while I lived, why then am I being put under house-arrest after death?
If you can learn something from my life, then please do… otherwise, at least have mercy on me and set me free.

आज जन्माष्टमी के मौके पर इतना ही कहूंगा कि मुझे छोड़ो और गीता को पकड़ लो
तुम्हारा उद्धार हो जाएगा।
बात-बात पर मुझे क्यों परेशान करते हो?
क्या भारत में पैदा होकर मैंने कोई गुनाह कर लिया है?
जो व्यक्ति अपने पूरे 108 वर्ष के जीवन में कभी क्षणभर को भी किसी जगह
किसी वस्तु या किसी व्यक्ति से नहीं बंधा
उसे घर-घर व गली-गली में मंदिर बनाकर
किस बिना पर आप लोगों ने बंद कर दिया है?
खुद मुक्त नहीं हो सकते तो न सही, पर मुझे तो मुक्त करो
मैं, जो जीते-जी हमेशा मुक्त आकाश में उड़ता रहा
उसे मृत्यु के पश्चात् यह नजर-कैद क्यों?
मेरे जीवन से कुछ सीख सकते हो तो सीख लो
...वरना कम-से-कम मुझे तो माफ करो।

कृष्ण - गीता संवाद
भगवद्गीता - कृष्ण, आप कहते हैं कि मैं सनातन सत्य हूँ।
मेरे भीतर प्रकृति के एक-से-एक राज छिपे
पड़े हैं।
सफलता के सारे सार-सूत्र मुझमें समाए
हुए हैं।
फिर भी आपके इतने मंदिर हैं और मेरे
तो चन्द भी नहीं?
और जो थोड़े-बहुत हैं उसमें भी आप ही
छाए रहते हैं।
...ऐसा क्यों?
कृष्ण हंसते हुए - तो उससे
तुझे या मुझे क्या फर्क पड़ रहा है?
तेरे मंदिर हों या न हों, सनातन सत्य
तो तुझमें ही समाया हुआ है।
मेरे मंदिर बनाए जाएं, मेरी अर्चना की
जाए...या मुझे सजाया जाए
मनुष्य को हासिल क्या होना है?
...लेकिन मनुष्य मूर्ख है।
तेरी अहमियत समझता नहीं और मेरे पीछे
पड़ गया है।
और मुझसे उसे कुछ मिलने वाला नहीं।
तभी तो भारत में हरकोई मुझको पूजता है
परंतु हाथ उनके कुछ नहीं लग रहा है।
यदि मेरी जगह उसने तेरे मंदिर बनाए होते
और वहां पर तेरी गहराइयों पर चर्चाएं
की होती
...तो आज हर भारतवासी सुखी और सफल नहीं
हो जाता?

क्या जनता मूर्ख है
नमो – हमने दंगल तो प्लान कर लिया, पर जीतेगा कौन यह भी तय कर लें।
मुलायम – भाई, जीतना तो मुझे ही होगा।
मुसलमानों के वोट मैं उन्हें सुरक्षा का आभास देकर ही ले सकता हूँ।
और तुम्हें चाहिए हिंदुओं की सहानुभूति
…जो तुम्हें परिक्रमा रोके जाने से मिल ही जाएगी।
नमो – बात तो ठीक है, पर क्या जनता झांसे में आएगी?

पर हम नेता लोग तो अपनी चुनावी स्ट्रेटेजी उन्हें मूर्ख मानकर ही बनाते हैं।

Is Public Really Foolish?

वरना...अगर कभी हमने सड़कों पर घूमने से पूर्व
मर्दों से उनकी मानसिकता का सर्टीफिकेट मांग लिया तो
सड़क पर नजर ही नहीं आओगे

One Pakistan - Many Problems
Pakistan has become an incurable disease for
India. Don't feel like continuing a dialogue with them, yet ending the
conversation doesn't seem to be a solution.
If Pakistan becomes weak, then there is the
fear of infiltration, and if it becomes powerful, then the fear of hundreds of problems
cropping up.
Declaring war with it, is inviting grave
destruction and without waging a war for how long can all this even be
tolerated?
Is Pakistan our neighbouring country or our
marriage partner?! The more you try to resolve the issues, the more friction it
brings. If you have any concrete solution for any of these two problems, please
let me know.

The Gruesome Killing of Shri Dabholkar A Worry - A Warning
Yesterday, Shri Narendra Dabholkar was shot dead in Pune. His unrelenting efforts for social upliftment and especially awakening people against religious superstitions can never be forgotten. I salute him for his efforts.
The murder of someone like Shri Dabholkar, who lived a life dedicated to the welfare of others is indeed a matter of great deploration. The entire nation needs to rise against this killing, as it is a clear indication of the fanaticism incubating in the country. And we should not forget that fundamentalism of any kind, eventually leads to circumstances similar to that of Pakistan - Afghanistan. We should also not forget that in the Hindu religion and culture, fanaticism holds no place. Many great legends like Buddha were born in India, who have openly condemned the Hindu rites and rituals, yet the nation revered them as God. There have been great people like Swami Dayananad Saraswati who strongly opposed every kind of idol worship. Not many could digest his ideologies, yet Arya Samaj, founded by him is spread across the country. Here, there have also been people like Kabir who sitting in the by-lanes of Benaras attacked the hypocrisies of the Hindus as well as Muslims and see for yourself, today his popularity is matchless. There have still been many more who have ardently refuted the prevalent social and religious malpractices. But Hindus never killed anyone; on the contrary, they have always respected and embraced new thoughts and ideologies. Indian culture always teaches us to welcome criticisms and learn from the same. Here, no Socrates has ever been killed. No Christ has ever been crucified nor any Mansoor cut to pieces. Because this is not Indian culture…
But for the past 25-30 years, fundamentalism is trying to raise its hood in the name of religion, which calls for a cautious awakening of all Indians. If this fanaticism propagated under the banner of Hindu religion and culture is not curtailed in time, then there is a possibility that “Tolerance,” the biggest jewel of the Hindu culture will fall in danger. If you take this brutal killing lightly, mark my words, the entire country will have to bear the grave consequences for the same.
श्री दाभोलकर की दुःखद हत्या : एक चिंता - एक चेतावनी
कल पुणे में श्री नरेंद्र दाभोलकर की हत्या कर दी गई। समाज-सुधार और खासकर धार्मिक अंधविश्वासों के विरुद्ध लोगों को जगाने हेतु किए गए उनके प्रयास कभी नहीं भुलाए जा सकते हैं। मैं उनके इन प्रयासों हेतु उन्हें सलाम करता हूँ।
अपना जीवन दूसरों को समर्पित करने वाले श्री दाभोलकर की हत्या चिंता का एक गहन विषय भी है। इस एक हत्या से पूरे देश को जागने की जरूरत है। क्योंकि यह समाज में पनप रही कट्टरता की ओर एक सीधा इशारा है। और हमें नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि हर प्रकार की कट्टरता अंत में पाकिस्तान - अफगानिस्तान-से हालात पैदा करने की तरफ ले जाती है। भूलना तो हमें यह भी नहीं चाहिए कि हिंदू धर्म व संस्कृति में कट्टरता को कहीं कोई स्थान नहीं। भारत में बुद्ध जैसे कई महापुरुष हुए जिन्होंने हिंदू विधि-विधानों का खुलकर विरोध किया। परंतु देश ने उन्हें भगवान का दर्जा दिया। दयानंद सरस्वती जैसे महान व्यक्ति हुए जिन्होंने हर प्रकार की मूर्तिपूजा का जमकर विरोध किया। कइयों को यह बात रास नहीं भी आई। फिर भी देखो, आज उनका स्थापित किया आर्यसमाज देश के कोने-कोने में फैला हुआ है। यहां कबीर जैसे लोग भी हुए जिन्होंने बनारस की गलियों में बैठकर हिंदू-मुस्लिम दोनों के पाखंडों पर जमकर हमला किया। और आज देखो, उनसे ज्यादा पॉप्युलर भारत में कोई नहीं। और भी ऐसे कई लोग हुए हैं जिन्होंने अनेकों सामाजिक और धार्मिक कुरीतियों का विरोध किया। लेकिन हिंदुओं ने कभी किसी को नहीं मारा। उलटा हर नई सोच का सम्मान ही किया। भारतीय संस्कृति हमेशा से आलोचनाओं का स्वागत करना और आलोचनाओं से सीखना सिखाती रही है। यहां कभी किसी सोक्रेटिज को नहीं मारा गया। कभी किसी क्राइस्ट को सूली पर नहीं लटकाया गया। कभी किसी मन्सूर का गला नहीं काटा गया। क्योंकि यह हिंदू संस्कृति नहीं...।
लेकिन पिछले पच्चीस-तीस वर्षों से धर्म के नाम पर कट्टरता सर उठाने की कोशिश कर रही है। लेकिन इससे सभी देशवासियों को सावधान हो जाने की जरूरत है। हिंदू धर्म और संस्कृति के नाम पर पनप रही इस कट्टरता को समय रहते नहीं दबाया गया तो हिंदू-धर्म की सबसे बड़ी गरिमा ‘‘सहिष्णुता’’ के ही खतरे में पड़ जाने का डर है। यदि आपने इस दुःखद हत्या को हल्के से लिया तो मेरी यह चेतावनी ध्यान रख लेना कि कल इसका बहुत बड़ा अन्जाम देश को भुगतना पड़ेगा।

Monsoon Blues
Nature - O Rains! What makes you so sad?
Rains- What to say! You had promised that I will always be the most beautiful season. Everywhere I look, I will see people loving, rejoicing, enjoying festivities and dancing in the shower of love. But for the past many years things have not remained the same. What used to be a time of celebration has now become a season to observe fasts in the name of god. Now all that I can see everywhere is people observing fasts and spreading gloominess.
Nature replied in dismay, "What to do my dear?”Everything was as it should have been for past millions of years. Don't know from where these Rozas, Upvas, and various other fasts have emerged in the last 2000-3000 years? But irrespective of what they say, I have surely bestowed each individual with decision-making capability at least as far as leading his life is concerned. It is indeed difficult to understand why doesn't he apply even that much of sense?
....But, don't get disheartened. See, I am the nature… no one can afford to go against me for long. By not eating in such a beautiful climate, whenit is most natural for people to indulge in binging, their appetite is anyways drastically reducing. And failing to provide body with the fuel it needs, he is falling prey to various kinds of diseases. What do you think, for how long would he bear the brunt? Not for long! Soon he will realize his folly and come to his senses.

सावन की उदासी
प्रकृति- अरे सावन! तू उदास क्यों है?
सावन- क्या कहूं! आपने तो कहा था कि मैं हमेशा सबसे हसीन मौसम रहूंगा। मुझे हमेशा चारों ओर हंसते-गाते, खाते-पीते, नाचते, उत्सव मनाते और प्रेम करते ही लोग नजर आएंगे। लेकिन वर्षों से सब उलटा हो रहा है। मुझे तो चारों ओर मनहूसियत फैलाते और उपवास करते लोग ही नजर आते हैं।
प्रकृति निराश होते हुए बोले- क्या करूं। लाखों वर्षों से सब ठीक चल रहा था। पता नहीं दो-तीन हजार वर्षों से ये रोजे और उपवास कहां से आ गए? लेकिन कोई कुछ भी कहे, मैंने तो हर मनुष्य को अपने जीने पुरती निर्णय करने की अकल दी ही हुई है। समझ नहीं आता कि वह उतनी भी इस्तेमाल क्यों नहीं कर रहा?
...पर तू उदास मत हो। देख मेरे विरुद्ध कोई ज्यादा दिन नहीं जा सकता। खाने-पीने के हसीन मौसम में न खाने से लोगों की खुराक तेजी से कम हो ही रही है। और इसी कारण उसे दस तरह की बीमारियां भी पकड़ रही है। कब तक सहेगा, जल्द ही लाइन पे आ जाएगा।
