Is Health Getting Lost?

-       Oh brother Health, which corner were you sulking away? These days, I am falling ill at the slightest instance! It’s as if my immunity has gone for a toss!

-       That’s bound to happen! You are doing such things! You are so taken in with the idea of dieting. Now, if you don’t eat properly, then how are you going to have the strength to fight germs?  Some or the other germs will surely  predominate and easily afflict you with one disease or the other! And what to say about your undisciplined eating routine! Sometimes you go on a fast, sometimes you go on a hogging spree. Now, staying hungry is definitely dangerous under any circumstance. And yet, under the pretext of Roza or fasting, you jump onto the bandwagon! If you try to drive a vehicle without any petrol, the engine is bound to take a beating!

-       Ok, I get your point. So, if I eat on time then I surely won’t fall ill easily, right?

-       It will definitely bring about some positive changes. But it won’t take care of the matter completely!

-       Why so...?

-       Because, ill-health does not concern only the body but also the mind. And this mind is very fickle. The mind materialises whatever you believe or read. And what are you doing nowadays…? You have been reading on what happens if you eat certain things. You have been keeping track of how many calories a food item has!

-       So what is the harm in that?

-       The harm is that irrespective of whether this knowledge is right or wrong, but by the law of the mind it becomes the truth as soon as you believe it. Then no sooner do you eat something high in calories than you start gaining weight! Barely, do you eat a morsel against your beliefs and you fall ill! If you don’t believe it, then look at yourself! You smart people keep falling sick, despite drinking bottled water and eating only home-cooked food! And an illiterate labourer, who drinks water or eats from anywhere, is still hale and hearty. Therefore, please note at the level of the mind, ignorance is bliss!

-       Ok fine, we shall save ourselves from unnecessary information about eating; we shall also eat without at any fear. At least then, we shall not fall ill at the slightest instance?

-       Definitely not! But if you do not start reading about illnesses and try to gather information…only then! And if you start reading about when, how and where you will contract any disease, then you will be back to square one! Because once again your mind, owing to its troublesome nature, will definitely ensnare you. Whether the things you know are true or not, but because of your belief in them, your mind will definitely influence you with it! From today onwards remember, the more information a person has about an illness, the more likely he is to contract it! ...On the flipside, an illiterate labourer who doesn’t have the time for all this probing is absolutely safe!

-       So...is being cautious a bad thing?

-       For the brain it is not, but for the mind it certainly is! No sooner does the mind know than it manifests the same. Otherwise, allow being sick to be a routine for you, and let the doctor analyse your condition. Then you can do as he prescribes – you will be happier. And all that will be left is hereditary conditions or unexpected illnesses! ...Now, all this is bound to go on as long as there is life!
