Once,
a researcher went to one of the jungles in Africa to study the law of the
jungle. There he came across a group of vixen. Now vixen are believed to be the
most sly and inquisitive creatures amongst animals. So, on seeing a stranger
wander into the forest, a vixen went up to him and enquired about the purpose
of his visit. The researcher said, “I have come to observe life under the jungle
law.”
Upon hearing this, the vixen started laughing
and said, “You are ridiculous! You actually left your dog-eat-dog world to seek
out the laws of the jungle in our well organised, harmonious society!”
Astonished,
the man said, “You sound like the devil preaching honesty to a priest.”
The
vixen said, “This is what is so peculiar about you human beings. Even though
the fault lies in you, you go about looking for it in others. In this forest,
every animal, be it big or small, shoulders its own responsibility. So much so
that they need to rely on their own intelligence and efforts for the sake of their
very survival. The one who makes a mistake pays dearly for it. Even the largest
of the animals cannot hunt for food without being agile and sharp. On the other
hand, there is a prevalent darkness of ignorance in your world. The religious
leaders, who do nothing and know nothing, own huge ashrams. Some of the biggest
sinners have become religious heads at churches and temples. Political leaders
who are absolutely incompetent are ruling over the common man. In the name of serving
the country, they are indulging in corruption and emptying the country’s
coffers. The more a person is capable of wrong doings, the more wealth he is
amassing. And the ones who really have guts and intelligent; who are also
honest and hard working... are struggling for survival. So tell me, where is the
law of the jungle prevalent?
...Upon hearing this, the man turned his
back on the forest and took to his heels!
