My Last Request – Nirbhaya

What kind of a law is this which adjudicated my most brutal violator a juvenile and sentenced him to only three years of imprisonment?! I ask, why shouldn’t he be hanged till death?

Can age be a deciding factor of someone’s wrong-doing? Akbar had become the ruler of India at merely 14 years of age. And he proved to be the best Mughal emperor this country has seen! Mozart had composed his first piece at the age of 5! Thomas Edison set up his first laboratory when he was 8-years-old! When you people can hail the genius of these young guns, why aren’t you holding this rapist accountable for his wrong-doings?

A human being’s deeds are to be judged not by his age but by his psychology. We all need to become alert! The case is not merely about my pain, it is also about the youth going astray! Given this court judgement, it shouldn’t happen that juveniles get more indulgent in such acts. They shouldn’t start thinking that no matter what we do, even if we are caught, we are not going to be punished! So my only plea is that for the sake of justice and the country’s future, please hold even the juvenile accountable for his deeds!
