Sachin I Salute You But you cannot Retire…

© Daily Blog @ www.deeptrivedi.com

Sachin, who played his first international test match in 1989, has retired from international cricket today, after 24 years. Everybody is aware of how many records he made and what a world class player he is. To say anything about it would be like showing a candle to the sun.

So, I’ll come straight to the point which I want to share with you today. Maybe everyone would like to become great like Sachin, but what to do towards this end, nobody knows! To know this you need to take a peek at his personality traits. Because in my view, Sachin is a veritable mine of virtues that all religions state are the qualities of a saint.

Like his singular orientation; his life was just cricket…cricket and cricket. It is obvious that if a man is so focussed on a particular field, he is bound to excel and reach the pinnacle of that field.
Secondly is his humility, wherein no success could ever make him feel a sense of pride or ego and the one who will never be gripped by ego, how could he be stopped?! Why would nature come in his way? That is why he played consistent cricket throughout the 24 years.

Thirdly is his dedication and determination for cricket, which made him keep himself physically fit for 24 years. This is no ordinary feat. Just play cricket for one day and all your body parts will ache like hell! But for Sachin, cricket was his life, and one has to do all that is required to save one’s life. He did that, but we are not able to.

Fourthly, he is surely concerned with the plight, pain and life of people in general. Let me tell you a small incident; when Mumbai was facing water problems, Sachin began bathing with only single bucket of water. This is the greatest of the great traits. This shows that even sitting at the pinnacle of success, the plight of the common people caused him immense grief.

Well, as far as his virtues are concerned, we can write an entire book. For now, I can clearly say that even though Sachin may have retired from cricket, but because of his great traits, he will never lead a retired life. He has already become a Rajya Sabha member. In future, he will take interest in good endeavours and continue to serve the people. Because a man like Sachin never retires. And this is what we want, that he never retires but in fact goes from strength to strength in diverse fields using his talents and continue winning the hearts of the people.

Lastly, I would surely want to say that though most of our political and religious leaders are quite great, if they retire, the country will prosper much more. Well, if they don’t want to retire, then they should learn something from Sachin. Maybe after that, they will be able to serve us with the true spirit of service. Because the mere label of a leader or saint does not imply that they serve the people or are religious, but they achieve these positions by their real intentions and feelings… Our Sachin is both a Saint and a server. So neither has he retired nor can he ever retire.
